Visitors working on their projects and socializing at

Stoke Goldington Village Hall, Sept. 2005

During the afternoon several visitors exercises their brain as well

as their hands and composed limericks which were read out at

the end of the afternoon. Some are featured here.

There was a young lady made lace
With a satisfied smile on her face
She said "Aren't I clever
I could do this for ever?"
But she simply could not keep the pace.

Stoke Goldington Lace Days are fine
If you've got lots and lots of spare time
Organisation is splendid
and the ladies are friendly
But the car park needs extending next time!

There was a young lady of Olney
Who made lace as she road on her pony
Her horse made lace too-that cannot be true
This is clearly a load of baloney.

There was a young lady
called Grace
Her lace making was just a disgrace
Her fingers would fumble
Her threads were a jumble
But the lace she turned out was just ace.

We've left the men folk behind
We are here for a stitch and some wine
The lace is a growing
Conversations are flowing
and we are booking a place for next time.

There was a young lace maker from Beds
Who had trouble controlling her threads
She said "Oh dear-crikey
my leaves are all spiky
I'll have to do Torchon instead".
