About Us
Our Lace Circle held their inaugural meeting in February
1980 with a handful of members. It has gone from strength to
strength and now has over 30 members and 6 juniors. There
are several ladies who are still members of the Circle today.
We have met in a variety of locations including the Baptist
Church, the Cowper and Newton Museum and our present meeting
place is St Joseph's Convent.

We meet each Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon in
school term time. The Tuesday evening group meet from 7.30
p.m. - 9.30 p.m. in the Convent. This is a small group and
is mainly for those who cannot manage to attend on a Wednesday
afternoon although all members may attend both meetings
if they wish. The group operates on a self-help basis.
The Wednesday afternoon group is a large one and meets
in the Convent from 1.30 p.m. - 3.30 p.m.

We used to have a junior section but are not able to
cater for children at present.
Lesley Hancon teaches lace to beginners and
offers help to anyone who requires it.

We also hold a Lace Day each year during September when
most of our members attend and play host to other Lace Groups
in the area. We often arrange to have a speaker who gives
a talk on a related subject and Lace Suppliers are also
in attendance.
We normally hold our AGM in November and usually have a
good attendance. It may be the mince pies which are the
attraction, as we use it as an excuse for a Christmas party.
This was us in 2003.
